This pet rat playground is made of interconnecting cardboard boxes, bags and tubes. A large sheet of cardboard covered with cloth serves as both a slide and climbing wall. Not only is it great fun for your rats, it’s also very inexpensive to create.

What do you use to hold boxes , etc together? What kind of tape would be safe to use ?

About Pet Rats
Hi There,
Your questions are fantastic!
Tape: I usually use masking tape. I haven’t had any rats chew it up. If your rats were to regularly chew and even ingest the tape you’re using, though, I would not use any tape at all. However, from my experience (of 33 years) I haven’t had any rats who were chewed tape used on their boxes.
I love your question about a rat itinerary. What a great idea! I’m going to write about this and create an itinerary as soon as I’m able. I I may even create some daily checklists. I’m sorry I don’t have this already made, but I’m really looking forward to making it and will let you know when it’s ready.
Best Wishes to You & Your Rats,

Aw, that looks like so much fun and a great way to recycle all those boxes from Christmas! Very creative. :)
Thanks for your comment, Elaine! It IS nice to be able to recycle boxes. :) Happy New Year to You & All Your Furry Friends.
Looks like lots of fun. I am thinking our bunny Lulu might like a similar set up. Happy 2016
Lulu would probably love it! It’s so much fun to see them play in new set-ups—-their joy is quite visible. Sometimes I wish I was small enough to play in something like this. It’s also fun to change the configuration every few days since they enjoy learning new things.
Happy 2016 to You & Yours, Too!
